Meet Melissa

I was first elected to the School District U-46 Board of Education on April 4th, 2017. Prior to that, I held leadership roles with the Community Advisory Council and volunteered locally at my son’s schools. I look forward to continuing to serve the U-46 community, and I ask for your vote on April 6th, 2021!

It has been such an honor to hold leadership positions in this district, from being co-chair of the CAC Specialized Student Services Committee for five years and spearheading the Special Education Resource Fair, serving as Chair of the Citizens’ Advisory Council for two years, to now serving on the Board of Education the last four years. My first term was a true growth experience in learning governance and taking a deeper dive into the world of public education. I am excited for what this Board can accomplish in the next four years, and I can’t wait to get started!

Despite funding challenges, School District U-46 offers an abundance of opportunity for students. Maximizing our dollars in support of these opportunities is a constant challenge, and one that I relish to continue working on as co-chair of the Board’s Finance Committee.

School District U-46 has a long history of bringing innovative approaches to classrooms, from our Instructional Learning Program for students on the Autism spectrum to our play-based curriculum for kindergarten students. I am committed to promoting a culture of innovation in the district, one that meets the needs of our entire student body.
